TBworx is a flexible time and billing program for Palm handhelds.
It allows you to keep track of billable hours, billable amounts
and costs by client, job, task, or date.
There are three TBworx databases: clients, jobs, and tasks (the program
headings "Client", "Job", and "Task" can be changed by the user to whatever
terms fit best). Once these files have been created, the user can enter
work-in-process (WIP) records, each of which includes a client ID, job ID,
and a task ID, as well as fields for date, rate, status, notes,
(billable)hours, billable amount and cost amount.
The work-in-process records are the heart of the system. Each time
you start a new job or a add a new task to an existing job you set up
a new WIP record to keep track of the hours, billable amount and costs
for that client, job, task and date.
You can start a timer running when you begin working on a particular
task; then when you finish you can click on the client/job/task record
you want to charge your time to and stop the timer -- TBworx will figure
the elapsed time and update the billable hours and amount in the record
you selected.
There are also options for "filtering" your client/job/task (work-in-
process) records. That is, you can display just the work-in-process
records for a particular client, job, task, or those records that
fall between certain dates. You can also apply consecutive filters;
for example you can select the records for a given client, then select
only those records for that client that have a particular job ID.
The ability to filter WIP records allows you to pull summary information
of various kinds. For example, you can select all records for a given
client; TBworx will display a summary screen showing the total hours,
billable amount and cost for that client (for the WIP entries currently
on file).
In addition, you can sort your work-in-process records into order by
client, job and task to make it easier to locate a given entry.
TBworx also includes the ability to export work-in-process records to
a Pilot-DB database file (Pilot-DB is a popular freeware database
program for Palm handhelds). The export file can be hot-synched to
your desktop PC and from there it can be imported into dBworx,
another PLWorx product.
